How does Nella work?

Nella works in three steps. You connect Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent in read-only mode through the provider’s own secure sign-in; Nella reads your live figures and builds your Nella Score and first insight pack within minutes; then you ask questions in plain English on the web, WhatsApp, Slack, or through the ChatGPT and Claude connectors. Nella never writes back to your books.

Questions about connecting and using Nella.

How do I connect Nella to my accounting software?
You sign in to Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or FreeAgent through that provider's own secure sign-in and grant read-only access. Nella never asks for your accounting password, and the whole process takes a few minutes.
Can Nella change anything in my accounting software?
No. The connection is read-only by design. Nella can read your figures but cannot create, edit, move or delete anything in your books — the permission to write is never requested.
How long before I get my first answers?
Minutes. Once the connection is granted, Nella builds your free Nella Score and first insight pack while you wait, then you can start asking questions straight away.
Where can I ask Nella questions?
On the web, on WhatsApp and in Slack, and through the ChatGPT and Claude connectors. Nella answers from your live data in whichever of those you already use.
What is in the monthly management pack?
A board-ready summary built from your live figures each month: your key numbers, what changed since last month and why, your Nella Score, and anything flagged as worth a second look — written in plain English rather than ledger codes.
What if my bookkeeping is behind?
Nella answers from what is recorded in your books, so if entries are missing or unreconciled the figures will be incomplete in the same way your own reports would be. Nella flags gaps it can see, but it cannot infer transactions that have not been entered.
Does Nella replace my accountant?
No. Nella provides financial information and education, not accounting or tax advice. Nella shows you the numbers; a qualified accountant at AccTek advises you on them. When a question needs professional judgement, Nella points you to the team.
